Importance of Sex Awareness For Adolescents and Young Adults

Today, of the entire world’s total population, one in six are adolescents aged 10 to 19. Meanwhile, young adults, people aged 18 to 24 make up a large percentage of the entire world’s population. Adolescents and young adults are regarded as people going through a transitory stage between childhood and adulthood. In this phase of life, individuals experience rapid physiological, sexual, cognitive, and emotional changes. These are the times that can be of both disorientation and discovery. In these stages, it is essential to encourage healthy behaviors and to take measures to better safeguard young individuals from health hazards.

Mental Health
Depression is one of the main causes of illness and disability among young people. Violence, poverty and a sense of devaluation can boost the danger that people might develop mental health issues.

Lack of healthy sex life or confusion regarding their newly developed sexual feelings can also play a significant role in deteriorating mental health of young adults and adolescents. Helping children at school and college by providing them with proper sex education can promote good mental health. To prevent them from harming their health and safety, it is imperative to have conversations with them early on and teach them how to explore their sexual desires and identities in a safe and healthy way.
